Im pretty sure it needs the computer because there would be no way to mechanically run the engine. It may be a custom computer, but its still there somewhere.

Im almost positive they use one of the VW bus transmissions that matches up to our engines or something.


There was one L67 buggy that i was talking to the owner with and he had owned his for two years and was on his sixth bus transmission. They say if youget into it at all it just frags because its not built for the torque. I think there were two types a standard (the frag-able one) and a heavy duty that was hard to find so not everyone could get them....i think


Or my mind could be playing tricks on me... i looked alot into this a while ago for my L27 buggy. But then i realized i dont have the money for a transmission so i just took the front end of a buick and made it the back end of a buggy. (It will never see the sand :-p... even when it DOES finally get finished. )

EDIT: However, in that picture, it doesn't exactly look likes he feathering it either,
