Default I need air conditioner help!

HELP! I'm trying to get the air conditioner to work on my brother'* 92 Bonneville. The Ac hasn't worked for quite some time, so we figured it needed a recharge. We went and had the AC system drained, and we used a conversion kit and put in R134A. Only problem though, is that the AC won't turn on. We replaced the relay, and checked the fuse but it still doesn't work. The compressor is OK too (I can turn it over by hand.) WHat could be wrong with it that the AC compressor won't turn on? Thanks for the help guys!

The obvious....check fuses, if they're all ok, look at the electrical connector on the AC compressor. It should be a 2-pin black plastic connector. On the end of the connector where the wires enter from the vehicle chassis, there should be a diode running from one pin, out the back, and into the other pin. Check the diode with an ohmmeter. It should conduct in one direction but not the other. I've had this diode smoke on 3 GM cars or trucks. Easy fix......hope that does it!
