isnt it a waste to drop 2000 into the car just to get rid of it, the way i see it, you just bought yourself some extra time with that 2000, and it shouldnt be tossed away so effortlessly

I just dropped in $900 for all four struts and mounts, including labor. With that, I've decided to keep my car unless my tranny goes this year. I won't get the $900 back if I were to sell it now. I agree with what Aaron is saying. If the $2000 means that your problems are all fixed I would keep it, if it were my car. But if you need to put in a lot more money I can see why you wouldn't keep pouring money into an old car.
Good luck with the Galant!

Is that Galant a 6cyl, or a 4cyl?
6cyl has it'* issues, like any car, but the 4-banger has massive problems. The motor and trans simply aren't heavy enough for the car. Crank-walk, bad sensors, weak torque converters, just bad design.

Hope you stay with us as well... Bonneville or not..
A note tho... In the many years I have had the 95 Bonneville, I have had up and down years with the car... Happens with age and mileage.. I have had a time when all I had to do for 2 years was change the oil.... Had other years where the Master cylinder failed, Water pump went out, alt died... Belt tensioner pulley died... Rear wheel cylinders started leaking... Upper intake popped.... Everything happened in one year...lol
I have actually spent less on my car in the 5 years in repairs than my friend with a 99 chevy has spent in the last 6 months...lol
Both my 91 LE and 95 SE are still reliable and just keep going

And, dollar for dollar, the Bonnie will be the least expensive vehicle to maintain in the long run.
Gotta think about the long run, not the short of it.
