i dont believe it is corrosive either, many municipalities/states are switching to it because it can be applied before a storm, and it coats the road surface much more evenly, instead of having patchy spots everywhere, it also is more effective and efficient

Some of the places I drive have switched to the calcium. On other benefit is that there is less waste since what you put on the road stays on the road. YES I did have it under coated last year, but not sure if it was done the previous 13-14 years. I think it is just the fact of being up north here.

I am updating my post in the 87-91 section about the problem under the car.

calcium costs way too much for idaho. we get salt, if that. luckilly it is in the 30s today so everything is melting. but the car is white with salt.

One tip for those of you in salt usage areas, when the snow melts or is slushy. Drive around, this will help to rinse most of the salt that was picked up while driving in the snow etc.

Ummmm, where do you think the salt goes when it gets slushy out???? That'* right! Into the melted snow slush/water. Ergo, there'* a slight problem with your theory.....

Best bet is even the cheapest drive through car wash. You're better off paying more for the underbody spray and all, but even the cheapo "Squirt some some and rinse" wash will help keep contaminates to a minimum til spring.
