Ok cool. Thought so, just wanted to check. Now where can I get some of these? They may help me out someday. I drive this car pretty hard and with the tranny shifting all the time almost to redline, it's possible it could weaken..maybe, even though i have a good amount of tq less than what's it's rated for. Still a possibilty.

No, i may have mis-typed - I meant that I put an extra magnet on my Oil Pan, just above the drain plug.

On most cars, it's just a sense of self security. Probably isn't doing anything for a good tranny/engine, but it ain't hurting nothing either, so why not. It's a pretty cheap "just in case"....

I posted the link for the site I bought mine off. Just cruise around there, you'll find 'em. And since my tranny is on it's last legs, I want to preserve it as long as possible. I am a firm believer that they will help keep my transmission alive.

mmm...most transmissions already have a magnet in the pan. If you've ever changed your own fluid/filter you should have seen it and cleaned it. I clean mine every time I change the filter, its amazing how much stuff that thing collects.

It's amazing how much it MISSES, too.

I gotta agree with Will, based just on what I saw when I cleaned mine

In my opinion, the factory magnet is borderline useless. It's just one of them plastic magnets like mom has a whole fridge of. Didn't look to me like it would be very long before it was just overwhelmed.

Granted, if you have a good, well maintained tranny already, then adding more magnets is probably overkill. But personally, I got mine out of some burnt out hard drives I found in the trash bin here, so not only did I get to rip the guts out of a hard drive (FUN!!) I got 5 pretty heavy duty magnets (broke one) to play with "just in case"...

I'll see what good they do in a month or two when I change my filter again

hehe yeah, my comment was mostly aimed at those saying "whats the magnet for?" and not as a 'well you've already got one, don't need two'.
