My friend told me this, he'* not a real gearhead by anymeans. But the statement in one school of thought could make sense. He had a Jeep, and he used the fuel injector cleaner once. It brought back some power to the Jeep. But then after a while he noticed that the power really dropped off, worse then before. So he used the cleaner again.... power restored. But after a while the power drop would occur again, slowly, but it was worse then before he had ever used the injector cleaner.
Anyways.... that was his story....
I just leave the fuel injector stuff and all that to my mechanic. If he recommends it, I do it.

Mine does, so I do. It'* under $3 so i figure what the hey, it makes me feel good if anything. My fuel injectors are perfect, and the entire fuel system is perfect (tested for free btw).
I don't see how they would cause it to get dirtier then they would normally...

They only thing that can make it get diry quicker, with nomal use, is crappy gas. Speaking of which, ny car could prob'ly use some cleaner.....
