Default Hyperlocked???? WTF is that???

Has anyone every heard of Hyperlock. When my mom owned my Bonny the engine Blew at 136,000 miles. She was driving down the road then all of a sudden she sees all kinds of lights lighting up on the dash and some ding ding dings going on then she lost all power, then some sort of smoke came from under the hood and the engine was toast. She told me the dealership told her the engine was hyperlocked. Has anyone ever heard of this?? If so what causes it? Thanks!

Its called Hydralock, its when the upper intake manifold on NA 3800s fail and coolant leaks into the engine block and mixes with the oil.

The is a big sticky in 1992-1999 about it..read up and be educated :?

Ok so its call hydralocked, She told me Hyperlocked. She must have misunderstood the dealer. Anyways whatever happened blew the engine. It was toast. She said about them telling her something was cracked as well. The new engine has 25,000 miles on it and I am hoping that doesn't ever happen to this one

HydrOlock....and it'* when the cylinder fills with water. That wouldn't have happened while the engine was running. Usually only when you try to start it. Water won't compress, so when the cylinder comes up, BOOM. Bad things happen.

If the intake failed while the car was at least idling, it couldn't have hydrolocked. It could have still seized the engine though.

Series 1 are prone to failure as well, just not as often or as badly. Both at the EGR port, and around the base where the seal is.

The risk of Hydrolock is the main reason I no longer run my water/alcohol injection.
