Default Hybrid PCM

I was just reading an older post asking what year Bonny would you get if you were to replace yours. One reply was that they wouldn`t get a 94 or 95 because they had Hybrid PCMs. Could someone explain to me what this means?

93 and prior were OBD 1, 96 and later are OBD 2. 94 and 95 were the awkward years inbetween.

Thanks. Yes, it is pretty confusing but at least I have a decent understanding now about the hybrid term. It also explains the trouble I had scanning it the other day.
