I inspect them every once and a while, and unless they are cracking, or are doing a horrible job clearing the rain off of windshield , I'll just stick with them, usually I get 2-3 years per set, I usually go for the more expensive wipers though, like Trico, or RainX Latitudes.
Note: I do not always drive daily, so that may attribute to why mine last so long.

jwfirebird 03-08-2014 07:54 AM

same here, i get about a year normally, i think since they dont sit outside so stuff like that doesnt bake in the sun

rjolly87 03-08-2014 08:59 AM

They quit working good after 2 years in these parts, so that's where I stand

aldaron 03-08-2014 03:28 PM

2 years max.

ole fart 03-08-2014 06:32 PM

mine only seem to last a year by spring I need a new one.
I am experimenting with shorter blades 15"on drivers side because of curve in the window. shorter blade doesn't seem to have as much of the window curve baked or frozen into them that the longer ones do an they seem to pull away from window an leave it difficult to see thru right where I want to see, any way it worked wonders on my van, haven't been out in the weather with the PA yet to see how it works on it.

rjblazer 03-08-2014 06:41 PM

My truck they have been on two years and are still good. They are the autozone beam blade ones. They are used a lot as it's my plow truck.

GunsOfNavarone 03-09-2014 10:10 AM

Not as often as I should. I find it hard to find quality blades at Wal-Mart, and the Auto Part superstores overcharge for quality blades. The best blades I can find have been made in Mexico by a Michigan based manufacturer. I have found most of the big name blades are in fact a license to use a name, such as Michelin branded blades sold at Wal-Mart. Michelin does not design or make the blades, they simply license their name to some Chinese manufacturer who sells them under the Michelin name.

The question is- who REALLY manufactures a great blade. I have found most of the big retail names, Michelin, Bosch, Rain-X, etc- are all fancy packaging and not anything special operationally, often less than special.

I purchased a set of those flex wiper blades(forget the make) for like $35 last year for a pair. Still use them and they aren't chattering.

^ That's interesting.. Maybe I will look for those soon as my bosh icons are starting to steak after about 1.7 years now. The problem with the Pk ave is the real curved glass on both sides.
All blades seem to not hold tight in those curved areas, as last portion of the blade, does not make contact with the glass.
I like the word flex..possibly they would help to hold it down better in those curved areas?
What are other Pk. Ave owners using with good success, I wonder?
William posted Trico, or RainX Latitudes,Trico.. Pm Tater next..

WilliamE 03-10-2014 05:09 PM

The Rain-X Latitudes have a bit of a curve to them, they do not perfectly get that curve you are talking about, but they do seem to get a tad more of it then my old wipers did.

Rain-X LatitudeŽ Wiper Blades - Rain-X

The revolutionary Rain‑X LatitudeŽ wiper blade contours to the curvature of your windshield to provide even wiping pressure along the full length of the blade.

ive had the lattitudes, the autozone house brand beam blades, and the trico old fashoned style. personally i cant tell a difference between the rainx and the autozone beams.

the beams work better by far, but they do have a 2" patch about 3" tall on the far passenger side which does not touch.

next im thinking about trying the bosch icons. or seeing what gm uses stock on the new cars. my grandparents have an 07 lucerne with the stock beam blades, they still look and preform like new.

one thing that helps, no matter what blades you use is the rain-x brand washer fluid. you can use it in pouring rain and it will make the water bead so much that you almost dont need wipers at all.

as for me, im at about 2.5 years on the duralast wipers.

SUPERDUDEGTA 03-11-2014 01:53 AM

I usually like to replace them twice a year, especially when it gets dusty during the summer. I do however clean them up a little by taking a rag and some RAIN X, and wipe the blades down, it seems to help make them last a tad longer.

MouSe 03-11-2014 11:06 PM

Bonneville has a set of RainEater wiper blades. They've been on there for over a year, still working just fine. Now they're not doing a damn thing though.

Truck had the same ones, and I changed them a little premature. Put on a set of Trico Flex blades, their bargain beam blade. Don't do that. My passenger side has a 3.5" spot that doesn't wipe until 1/4 of the motion.

WilliamE 03-11-2014 11:52 PM

Looked at my wipers today, and noticed there was more of the wiper not touching the window on the passenger side than I thought, it is about 3" not touching the window until the wiper gets over 1/4 the way up the window, I did not think it was that bad.
The drivers side is not as bad, but it is close.

Soft Ride 03-12-2014 01:48 AM

Ya William really I am not surprised, I also experience this especially as the wiper blades get older, it seems they flex less, thus the need to replace em.
I have heard of many PA owners also using a 1 inch or so shorter length blade, to aid in the glass curve problem& to take less weight of water (faster/easier wipe for motor) being moved.
I wonder if those flex blades Mike was describing would be worth a try...??

Mike 03-12-2014 09:18 AM

No, they do the same thing on my S10's glass. I'm thinking of going 1" shorter for the passenger side. But the Bonneville they rock on!

MouSe 03-12-2014 11:02 AM

The trucks have a weird concave to them on the passenger side. The RainEater blades I had on the Silverado worked great, but these cheap Trico Flex's have that gap.

I think I'm going to try the Trico Onyx blades next.

Jason- Re Rain X Fluid -I'm going to try that!
(I like your Rain X commercial from youtube Canadian Tire)
https://www.gmforum.com/attachment.p...ine=1394664684
Your personal video really confirms it as well. Your windshield clarity is way better than mine/scratch city.
Will get some Rain X fluid to try soon !

Tech II 03-12-2014 08:33 PM

Use the Rain-X washer solution.......on the highway going fast, you don't even need your wipers, so it saves on wear of the wipers....

Mike 03-12-2014 08:45 PM

Funny we are talking about this, but, as an experiment, I used Turtle Wax on my windshield. Works better than RainX.

eltatertoto 03-12-2014 11:47 PM

true mike, but in negative temps, its hard to wax anything. lol

and art, neither were my vids, just found them. ill have to take my own video with the PA if it ever stops snowing and rains.

Soft Ride 03-13-2014 05:59 AM

I caution you on using wax on windshields as glass is somewhat porous & once applied, it can have a negative impact later, though blade chatter, as when the blade now wipes, it becomes a bit sticky to the shield. And if this happens it is very difficult to remove the wax from the windshield then. Only jewelers rouge powder in a mud paste and hard work can now attempt to get it now smooth again..(ask me how I know)..

Back onto blades...I like the Rain X blades as well. They were rated the highest on Can tire site.
Also in this link below in a very good wiper blade video worth viewing !!!

finally had a bit of rain while i was at work today. took this on break. keep in mind, these blades are over a year old and its probably been a week since i used the washer fluid. pretty darn good considering those circumstances IMO
