I believe 88 had it too..

Performance sound was only availble to the SSE, but I don't htink all SSEs had performance sound. I don't believe it was standard on SSEs, but then again I don't think i've seen an SSE without performance sound. It may not have been standard, but i'm sure that'* how most were ordered, or built whatever.

performance sound was standard on all SSE'*. im staring right at my 1988 and 1989 bonneville brochures. the LE and SE could have the performance sound system. altho only the SSE had the GAIN amp. performance sound included steering wheels controls, the subwoolfers in the doors with the tweeters... was the same as the SSE only without the AMP. i seen most SE'* with it. Sound System UT4... in 1988 the UT4 system did not have the tweeters on the rear shelf either, that was introduced in 1989.

hmm.. i never knew that. I've yet to see an LE/SE with performance sound, however I always attributed performance sound to having the gain amp... so maybe they did have it and I never noticed.

Maybe you can clear something up for me, which sound system had the 4x6s in the dash? i've got the cutout yet no speakers.

lol okay. Any idea why they eliminated them? I'm not complaining... to be honest my sound system kicks some serious ***. The only thing I could ask for, is two more 3.5" tweeters in the rear doors. The 6x9s kinda take over in the rear.

12-way seats . . . . 1,099
