In your engine bay on top of the radiator doesnt it tell you where the collision sensors are. I think there are 3 in the front of the 2000 model bonneville. One center two on the left and right fenders.

Shot in the dark...

Engine may have moved around enough to pressure the sensor to deploy the airbags?

Maybe you should consider looking it up in the manual?

I know on the 92-99 there are at least two. One in front, and one in the dash. Both have to detect a shock of a certain G-rating to deploy the bags. It has to be frontal or mostly frontal. That one MIGHT have been at just the right angle, or rather the maximum angle off axis to allow them to deploy.

The 2k+ uses a Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) located under the center console.
If the SDM connector gets wet it can deploy the air bags and by the looks of the ebay ad this is what might have happened?

He'* got fsm? Section 9 deals with the SIR system, 9-150 is desription of operation. The SDM uses an accelerometer to detect velocity changes.
