HOW LONG I'VE OWNED MY BONNE
We rented a 1999 Buick Park Avenue with the L67 engine when we drove to Alaska and back. We liked it so much, that we bought a brand new 2000 SSEI. We enjoy driving it and have just over 54,000 miles on it now.

I'm leading the group here. Bought the 90 LE in 1993 with 45,000 miles. 10 year later she now has 149,000 miles. Basically the car my kids drive since 105,000 miles ago. Other cars are 99 Concorde (should have bought a Bonneville then!) and a 2003 Toyota Corolla (sorry!) But I would rather drive the Bonne any day. It is an incredibly durable and comfortable ride.

I got my white '93 SSEi in February of 1996 with 57K on it from Sullivan Pontiac in Arlington Heights, IL. Took them somewhere around six months to turn up what I wanted (it had to be supercharged, white exterior, tan interior), but I didn't want to buy one privately and risk buying a lemon, so I was happy enough to wait. Finally a guy traded in a white '93, the salesman called me that night, I took a test-drive, we compiled a list of things to fix, a couple days later it was done, another test drive, another list of things to fix (some idiot had broken the cupholder while it was being detailed), and I wrote them a check.
I'll never forget when I picked it up. They had it in back for a final washing while I was up front doing the paperwork, and I finished before they did, so they said I could go on back to the service area and find it. There was this line of cars waiting for pickup, mostly nondescript little Sunbirds, Grand Ams and stuff, but second in line was this big, gleaming, white rocketship: my car. It was so cool to walk by all those other cars and hop in my new ride. I was still having that I-can't-believe-this-is-happening feeling, so I kept checking out the car, making sure the A/C was cold, checking all the lights, walking all around it, etc.
The first long trip we took in it was from Chicago to Mount Rushmore in 1997, and I still have the cool little 1997 Mount Rushmore parking permit decal in the corner window. I remember crossing the Mississippi on the way there, where the road drops down to river level, over the bridge, and then a steep climb back up the other side. With three people in the car, luggage crammed in everywhere and an 80 mph cruising speed, the car didn't miss a beat climbing that hill. I remember watching the boost gauge wind itself clockwise, and the car breezed uphill on cruise control while all the other cars were struggling.
Nowadays it has 108K on it, gets only sunny-day driving, and lives in the 3rd space of our three-car garage, with its own door, partitioned away from the kids' bicycles, etc. Think I'm doing to do some nice checkerboard ceramic tile on the walls around it...

September 6, 2001--first fill-up was after September 11 at $3.20/gal for super unleaded. I remember thinking to myself, " what did I get myself into?!?!" Fortunately I have no regrets now. It is still a little pricey at $1.79/gal, but it is the price I pay for having a car I truely enjoy.
