when my gauge is on 1/4 tank I need to fill it with 16+ gallons. So it is a little off.

And I can go for 225+ miles before 1/2 tank and then it drops REALLY fast.

Exactly the point of many...gauges are a reference point, not a precision instrument and the gas gauge is not linear therefore you may need more or less than 9 gallons for half a tank

Exactly the same with mine. I've actually run out of gas while driving DOWN HILL on a windy road. Let'* just say that was the least fun I've had driving a car. So now I fill up every time it hits half or less, just to be safe.

With my 92 sse, depending on how much fuel you put in it the gauge will go over to empty and around 60 miles it will go to the full side. I also understand about the needle falling after a 1/2 tank.

My '92 SSE had a bad sender and when the tank was completely full the gauge would ground out and flop over to "E". After driving 50-60 miles it would pop back up to Full and when it got down to 1/4 on the gauge you were walking. The fuel pump got weak and the tank baffle was broke so I replaced pump, tank and sender all at the same time.

Mine stops at about a 1/4 tank over F and stops running when it hits the yellow hast markings. I ranout once when going to high school I was able to get the car to start and get up to the top of the hill about 200ft then as soon as i hit the turn so i couls get off the road it died.
