Ouch, so do you have to change the oil every weekend or something?

With that kind of mileage he could get away with changes every 10 days.

EDIT

That'* also assuming you drive about 8 to 10 hours a day.....

what the car as a whole? cars die when you stop taking care of them and replacing what breaks..or when what breaks is worth more then the car usually...if your worried there is alot of preventative maintenance you can do to make sure it last longer. just ask i can rattle off about 5-10 things. i'm sure other members can tell you even more things you can do to make her last longer...

it dosent matter if its full or empty, oil wears out period. 255-239=16. you have driven 16 THOUSAND miles without an oil change 16/3=5.3 you are 5 changes overdue. the oil in your engine is no longer providing the protection required by it. and if you continue to run the car on this oil the bearings will go bad. i can only imagine the sludge buildup in your engine after running your car this long on that oil. and heres a fyi. the previous owner of my now wrecked bonneville ran the car about 15k on an oil change before i bought it. 2 weeks after i bought it the engine threw a rod and blew. sttarted knocking less than 1mi from my house, got it in my driveway and boom. done.

$20 for an oil change is a WHOLE lot less than replacing an engine.

Well, I've already replaced the motor in the car at 91K with a 28k motor. Bought it with the bad one in it. And my first one I drove from 105k-145k no problems.
