Default Hoping no one will make fun of me....

I did the Intake job this weekend and that went pretty smooth. I almost had everything back together but i had one of the injectors on the back side of the motor facing the wrong way when i put the rail back in and that cracked the connection with the rail to the injector so it was leaking fuel. So i got a junkyard rail for a few buck and it looked the same..i cleaned it up and installed it without issue. Finished hooking everything up and started the car. Ran fine as far as I could tell. I waited until the thermo opened and drew coolant down and I filled it again..didnt notice any leaks. Took it around the block and everything felt fine. It was smoking a little from the throttle body side of the motor, but i figured that was from the silicone lubricant I sprayed on some vacuum hoses in that area to help me get them attached again. I took it up the road about 5 miles and it ran fine so I called my "lifeline" and told her i was going to take it on a small stretch of highway to take it up to speed. I brought it up to about 65 and it just kinda slowly died. Then it would not start again so i called a tow. Got it back home and looked around the engine and (not sure why i picked the MAF) pulled the MAF cable. THe car started and ran rough but did not stall. I also noticed that there was liquid coming out of the FPR on top of the rail. I have never noticed wet fuel there before as I thought this was just a vapor release point that ran down the vac line to the charcoal can. So, since i was out of time and extremely frustrated..i swallowed the pride and took it to the dealer. I am awaiting their call this morning. I know you guys probably could have helped me track this down..but i just dont have the time right now to troubleshoot the car.

SIGH...I hope i didnt kill anything..

PS I kept checking the oil and it never got milky or frothy so i am pretty sure that the gasket job i did is holding...

bring your old rail into the dealer and have them swap the FPR from your original rail into the junkyard rail.

Sounds like you must have not got the seal right. It'* easy to miss something fiddly like that. You should have seen the mess I made when I backed the bleeder screw on my Tstat housing all the way out by accident after replacing the stat...DEX everywhere...

You know, I really hope its something silly like that. At this point i would rather be embarrassed about something stupid than drop another 500 bucks on something serious..

Sorry for the bad luck. Let us know what the dealers finds out.

Well, "silly" doesn't necessarily mean inexpensive...just wait until you see a $50,000 dollar race car blow itself sky high because someone used the wrong circlip...

Hopefully it'* just a seal a little out of shape. From your story, I'd say 95% it'* the FPR.

hopefully..but that still means i will need a new fuel rail since the FPR is a "non-servicable" part as far as the haynes manual suggests..
