I know the secret 1%..... which could make it possible.
Get a red film, like strobelight gel, or red sticky tint.... take the dash apart and cover the compass/dic/whatever.

Someone here did his Sony headunit deck like that, they took it apart and put red film in it to make it red..... I don't see why it wouldn't work on the dash.

Default one problem

There'* only one problem with that, I don't know if the original green would make the color look right to match the rest of the dash. Red + Green = Pontiac Red Orange (not the actual name of the color, just trying to sound smart) probably isn't part of the color wheel.

yeah thats my point

i did this with my blue film..you all remember that...

the blue is not blue enough, but it works..more of a blue tinted teal..

if you put red film over something that isnt that bright, its gonna look like crap...

i also have a very hard time seeing it in the daytime...

if you wanna mess with your dash, be my guest

The biggest possibility is this:
The gel or "colored film" is designed to stop the transmission of every color except the one your looking for. The Vacuum Florescent Displays (the compass and climate) most likely do not even transmit red light, and if they do its very minimal. So when you put the gel ontop the light output will be reduced to almost nothing.

example below:

Now the one percent could involve you finding a red VFD and rewireing each of the electronics to accomidate for the screen (it might cost as much as your car did after you figgur in all the labor) but itd be fun if you did it!
