Now, what if I used the heaters with the leather still attached underneath a stock cloth Bonneville seat, would it get too hot for the cloth?

I am putting a 1995-98 Bonneville cloth bench in a 1985 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck and though I am a little apprehensive to installing seat heaters after my mom had problems with the ones in her Avalanche (she thought they were just on when she took a trip...She later found out that the seats were actually smoldering!) but hell, if I am adding any option i can to my truck, why not heated seats even though they would be used about 2 hours a year total?

They are good for more than just warming your back and butt. Great if you have back aches, etc.

Here in the North East, they get used quite often. The ones that are installed in the car turn off after a certain amount of time (timer).

These are aftermarket, turn off after about 20 min or so. Do the factory ones shut off or stay on? I'll have to check on wifeys Equinox to see what they do.

Factory ones turn off once they reach a certain temp (98 degrees for low and 105 degrees for high IIRC) then tun back on once they fall below that

Mine don't do that. Once they hit a temp they turn off. If I want them back on I have to hit the button again.
