I am assuming you are wondering about installing it in your car?

1) The purpose is to display speed, turn signals, and critical driver information on the window so the driver doesn't have to look away from the road.

2) I am not sure if all the nessicary wiring is there to hook it up.

3) The cars with the HUD have a speacial windsheild to help prevent ghosting of the numbers.

Um, if the '94 version that the original poster is probably interested in is the same as the '93 that I have, that photo is a little misleading; the '93 version shows only road speed, high-beam, turn signals, Low Fuel and "Check Gages" when required, but not radio tuner settings.

Does anyone have a picture of one installed so I can see exactly what it is ?
Um, I _really_ don't think you're going to be able to retrofit it into an SE, for reasons someone else has already given. Sorry...

It allows you to keep your eyes on the road while feeding you the basic info you'd normally keep glancing at the dashboard for, most often the road speed. It takes a good five seconds or so for your eyes to get reoriented to the road whenever you look away, so the HUD is very definitely a Good Thing. My next car will have it for sure, and whenever Mom gets around to buying her next car, I'm going to make very sure that hers has one as well.

Among other things, you'd need a lot more hardware than what that eBay auction item shows, plus I don't think the same parts were used from '92 all the way through '99; I thought they upgraded it somewhat over the years. Without the actual part number for the display head it'* a little difficult to tell exactly what years that thing would fit, but even then, it would go in as a replacement for a defective one, but not to retrofit a car that didn't have it to begin with.

We had a member a LONG time ago successfully retrofit a 1990 with a Hud, minus the windshield. He had ghosting, but said it worked ok.

Here'* the piece of history for you:

HUD is cool, but the novelty wears off real fast. unless you hold you your steering hand at 12:00, it'* realy easy to glance down at the guage.

It'* effect is more pronounced if you live in an urban area with lots of crazy drivers.

Also, the trouble isn't with searching for the gauge, it'* the time it takes for the muscles in your eyes to change the thickness of your lens behind your cornea from a long distance focus, to a short one, then back again. In a normal human being, this takes about 5 secs.
