From 93 FSM

1 Raise head restraint to full up postion

2 Insert J tool 38530 into left side of each head restraint guide untill it stops. Push head restraint and tool fully down at the same time, then lift the restraint out of the seat

Like I said, I just gave a nice hard push up, one post at a time, lifting just to the side inside of the posts.
I will note, that the 1992-3(?) and 1994(?)-1999 are different. My old 1994 SLE had the same seat (same sort of headrest release) as my 1997 SSE, 1998 SSE, and 1999 SSEi, but this was different. The 1994+ require a very small flat screwdriver or a pointed tip to put in a small hole and push the relese slide which goes around the post'* as they go into the seat.
The 1992-1993 has only one catch and it is about 2+ inches down inside the seat.
Just give a nice steady push up, and slightly to the opposite side of the catches -forgot which side of the post they were on.
