Default Has anyone used 114.3 Bolt Pattern rims on their cars?

BOLT PATTERNS

Everyone knows Bonneville’* are 5X115

That said

I have Questions for the masses!!.

1.) Has anyone used 114.3 Bolt Pattern rims on their cars? I have heard Stories that they will work and stories that it won't.

2.) If they do work did you have to use HUB CENTRIC rings??

I only ask this question due to the abundant selection of the 114.3 style bolt pattern rims vs. the limited and as from what I have seen more expensive 5X115 rims.

Thanks in advance for your help

there has been people that have used that bolt pattern but it is not recommended. there are major vibrations at high speeds and you have the possiblity of shearing off a stud

Very bad news. Stick to 115. If you have a problem, and your insurance company finds out, they may not cover your accident as well. The lugs won't seat right.

If there'* any possibility that you'll need hub-centric spacers/rings, you'll have to do it. Having the load of the car on the *studs* is usually not right, not specifically sure about the Bonneville, but I'm sure most cars have the load set on the hub. As said, you'll potentially shear off a stud if you don't do it right.

I'll also advocate the use of 5x115 bolt-patterned wheels...

I have contacted American Racing on this several times and the use of a 5x4.5 (114.3mm) is OK, will cause no vibrations and bolts right up with no problems. I have not done it myself but have talked to PLENTY of customers with the swap done and they have had no problems. We are talking about 7/10ths of one millimeter. This causes no undo stress on studs or lugs as the usual 5x115 wheel has some play in it after a few rotations anyway.

If that proves to be true, than the hub diameter (is that the correct term?) of the rim in question is the one to be worried about. Wouldn't want the load to be on the studs when it shouldn't be.

I still wouldn't go 5x114.3 for a vehicle meant for 5x115, personally.

I was seriously afraid of going 114.3 on my 97.... but after talking to lots of people and finding out that the 115 pattern for my wheel would take months and months to come in, I decided to bite the bullet and go with 114.3...... 1 year later and no issues... and I've had them upto very high speeds many times without issues.
