a 440T4 and 4T60 are the same trans, just different nomenclature, like the TH125C was later called the 3T40 with little to no changes.

yeah, thats the other funky name it had.
Ill pluck the tv cable and check the vac modulator. Im not sure if it has a warrenty, I doubt it. But the guy who did it knows my grandfather so Ill just bring him into it if need be.

ok here it is ..95 cutlass 3.1 460TH-E.as i had been thru your posts looking for why it sorta groaned when down shifting.i just put in a new modulator...ouch..it doesn't "slap" it now jerks your head on every shift but over drive and still groans going down...it was an adjustable...tried that but no real change slowly turning it in a turn and trying then another ...way in and then way out..another one of them got worser. with a new modulator..??? anybody ever notice there are two O rings but only one comes with the new..there you are ..thoughts....thanks..frank..

i am back and clarifying.wrote this last nite in a panic..i have a 95 cutlass and it had been rumbling when downshifting but not shifting to bad..so after reading the posts i changed out the vacuum modulator after work ..sorta an easy job..?? but now it shifts so hard it is scary..it is a 3.1 with the4T60. it was an adjustable so i tried that ..a couple of turns and tried it and then some more..all the way in and then back out..but still pounds when shifting..so was looking for thoughts..thanks...fs
