As 93SLE mentioned, most track data we have been seeing is low 15'*. GM advertised 14.6, But I havent seen less than 15.1 in searches. If anything Rexor, leaving the Traction Control on could hurt the car. It moves power to the tire that isn't spinning and pulls the timing. Not something you want the car doing in a WOT. Thats great for ice and snow but sux trying to get a good launch and time. A lot of members here also remove one of the wheel speeb sensors to shut TC and TM down even further. I'd be real interested in your actual ET if you guys go back.

A another friend of mine has a 05 GTP Grand Prix. He has one of those portable devices that measure 1/4 mile times, 0-60 times, g-force, blah, blah. I'm not convinced of the validity of such a device, but he claims to run 14.02 in a dead stock GTP, (according to this "magic box"). I think his is probably a little quicker than mine, but not by a full second and a half. I also think his device is smoke and mirrors. What do you think? Also, I drove my friends SSEI, nice car, but not as smooth or refined in the delivery of power. Also, my GXP seems like it pulls harder, longer, (a wider power band?). However, it does seem like the SSEI would be more fun in the twisties, possibly due to the weight dfference?
GXP Venom, I value your opinion, what would a good all year round tire. I live in western Michigan, and will be using it in the snow. Thanks.

I don't plan on racing my car, but I am curious, what is the potential of these cars? Who has the quickest, fastest, GXP?

I dont take those devices seriously either

I have the only nitrous injected GXP I know of, but I havent had it to a track, just got my license back after a 2 year revocation.

For the money and performance, I like the Goodyear gForceKDWS. The letters stand for Key benefits on Dry Wet and Snow. For $82 a pop, how can you go wrong. I burned the first set off the front of the car (my bad.... burnouts-nitrous) and just bought a second set from Tirerack.com Check out the tires and specs here. They shipped to me UPS in 3 days.

You really cant trust those vertual 1/4 mile things. It'* a nice base to work off of when your making changes, but that'* it. The problem comes in when you spin your wheels, that' counts as forward distance, so you cover that 1/4 mile in less time.

Here'* one I did on my car.

You can see I did a little wheel spin, I didn't floor it right away and this effected the time. Also, my car is far from stock, I don't think a stock GTP is going to take me.

I've never been overjoyed with the straight line acceleration of the car, but then my other car is an LS1 T/A. I do like the sound of the Northstar versus the 3.8L. I also like the subtleness of the smooth sides on the GXP, versus the SSEI. I've never raced this car, so I have no idea what the 1/4 mile performance is other than what you guys have posted.

I'm not sure why it'* generally thought that the GXP is slower in the 1/4 mile if both are bone stock. I'd expect both cars to run between 14.8 and 15.1 stock. Here is the link to where I took my GXP to the track with details:

https://www.gmforum.com/t264547/

I do have a gutted airbox and drop in K/N, but I feel confident the car could run high 14s bone stock. Hardly anyone has taken their GXP to the track best I can tell, and I've only been once.

I should add that I had to baby the car at this track, it really wanted to spin for the first 15 - 20 feet, unlike on the street where I usually have to fully stomp it to break the tires loose. Although granted once I got it hooked up, it was foot to the floor and no traction problem.

GM'* official testing stated the GXP runs a 14.6 quatermile. The former administration of the Forum here, demanded the Clubs official "posture" was the GXP runs low 15'* using undocumented observations, thus puts it just behind the SSEi. I have seen track times on the internet ranging from high 14'* to high !5'* on the track. Same for alot of SSEi'*, although often modifications arent listed. I think driver ability to keep a FWD car'* tires from spinning and the NorthStars PCM/ECM/TCM "learn procedure" play big parts in a given 1/4 run.

I didnt rub it in when you ran and posted the times, Turcocoupe. I was pretty preoccupied with the new wife and not here much. You notice Will Wren (and alot of the SSEi crowd) that banned 2 members with GXP'* and put a gag order in effect on me after a squabble in the Northstar section had NOTHING to say at the very revealing info you posted.

When I met 93 SLE earlier this summer, I followed behind him and his modified SSEi with my stock GXP (nitrous bottle empty)() and found my car slightly slower yet catching up a few times we barely got on it going for a photoshoot. Next time Pat,... I'm going to make a point of filling the bottle and spending some more time.

I think Boosty says it best, between the 2 cars stock, it'* really who'* plays the better "drive game"
