Default Guess what happened and a Question

So, I was driving home from work today and the car in front of me stops for the light, so I had to stop. He could have made it, if I went through though, it would have turn red while I was half way in. Then, about 2 seconds later a lady in a Mazda Miata, hits me. Yes, it was at least 2 seconds later. She said she thought that I was going through the light, but she did not speak english that well (Asian)

Anyway, when I got hit, my first thought was "Crap, there goes my Bonneville".

The hood of her car was higher than the windshield and the engine was smoking a little. Headlights were smashed and all over the road. Half the front bumper was hanging off, other half crunched into the front wheel. Huge crack in the windshield.

I look at the back of my car and there are a few scratches on the bumper and a little dent about 1/2 an inch deep. When I saw that I laughed a little to myself after seeing her car. Then I said "Owned" outloud, but nobody heard me.

Cops came, and all that jazz. Nothing was really damaged on mine at all, but I'm still going to get it checked up on since the lady'* insurance is going to pay for it.

-----------
Now here is my question. Since my bumper is a little messed up, I was thinking of getting it replaced. When my Grandpa went to the junkyard last week, he said that he saw either a 94/95/96 SSEi in black and thought of mine. Anyway, would I be able to take the bumper off that, since I have always loved the dual exhaust look. I'm guessing that I would have to mod the tailpipe so it is sticking out one of the holes in the bumper. Would that idea work, or are the bumpers different sizes and require some work?

if her car is that bad... you might have to U-body problems in the back somewhere, or your bumper might be cracked... (not the cover ther Fiberglass under neith)

Yes, I am going to get it checked. I looked under the back and everything looked good and it rides the same, but nothing a free check up can't help.

your car may still be totaled if it has high miles.

cost to paint the trunk lid and bumper and replace is like $2000 if you go to the wrong (right) body shop

I have 100K on it and just the bottom piece has a dent in it. Nothing is pushed back, and if you don't look to hard at it, you can't tell anything happened. The trunk was not even hit.

Miata She should have a bigger car. Then again, good thing she was driving that, otherwise you could have been hurt. She obviously wasn't too careful.

That tells you to never drive Madzas but FYI, a 96 SSEi rear bumper is very different from a 95 SSEi.

Well, I don't see why it wouldn't fit, but the trim won't match. The little grooves are different.

Is a 1995 SE bumper different from a 1995 SSEi? Isn't the bottom back piece, where the exhaust holes and licence plate, a piece of the back or is the trunk part of it to?

I'd be scared to drive a Miata, that thing is so small and so unsafe. She is lucky to be ok for sure.

The SSE/SSEi cladding and bumper covers are different. The trunk is the same on both the SE and SSEi.
