Premium Unleaded Fuel Only means exactly that for a reason.

I got to tell ya, my wife'* Acura Vigor 5 cyl. states to use premium fuel only, and she'* only put about 2 tank fulls in about 14 years. Ya she'* cheap and I don't have a problem with that.
I don't even put premium fuel in her car.

bold area in my post I was replying to a statement SSE14U24ME said, please read carefully before replying.

i fail to see how a nonsupercharged/nonturbocharged car has anyting to do with this thread.
that was wills point. hence the "apples to apples" comment he made.
now back to the intelligence inherent in disregarding manufacturer specs.

And I made no reference to the apples to apples since that'* not what I was replying to?

This can be done, I know someone personaly with a 99 GTP that he runs on 87 octane. He has tons of mods including a cam and headers which suggests a performance orientation but his current focus is gas mileage.
He runs a 3.4" pulley with 21* at WOT and up to 44* timing at cruise with no signs of KR.
Still, I think it'* a rather pointless excersise but it can be done.
Cheers,

Cheers,
It can be done with a 3.4 pulley, but not a 3.4 pulley and those mods.

There are many members here who may not understand. There are specific reasons supercharged cars, even in stock form, should run 91 octane minimum at all times. Those reasons are unique to supercharged cars and are unrelated to whatever reasons an Acura may or may not be required to. By stating your wife'* Acura has never had the octane it required, you may be telling someone here that their L67 should be fine too, which isn't the case. We're trying to get the most accurate picture across to the topic author and the car owner in question. And an Acura has nothing to do with that whatsoever.
In other words, nothing is happening to this Forum. We're trying to keep this on topic.

Everytime my gf ever put gas in my old GTP she put 87. Of course she drove it conservatively (sp?), but I didn't. I enjoy riding more than driving most of the time, so I never noticed it when I was riding, but when I got in the car and beat it up, I could feel the KR knocking off timing. It took me awhile to realize, until I stumbled across a gas receipt for 87.
Now I have her trained, all of my cars except for my Sonoma take 93, but she even puts 93 in that now
