Default Got in an accident today. what luck.

It seems we are all having bad luck latley, well I did too, this morning I rear ended a van. Don't really need all the details, but I only hit it going around 5-10 ish MPH, van had no damage as its rear bumper was already damaged from her backing into a tree earlier that week, but my bumper has huge gashes/scratches in it that aren't really noticable unless you look long and hard but it drives me nuts because I know it'* there. The bumper is not repairable and it has spider webbing in it from it flexing. Should I spend the $400 to get a new bumper, or just get a bra to cover up the scratches? The bumper wasn't affected structurally, just aesthetically. A bra would run $80. Keep in mind my hood also needs to be paitned from defective paint from the factory, so a bra would hide that too.. do teh cons outweigh the pros of getting one?

For now a Bra would be a nice soloution to make it look alot better. Then later if you want you can get that bumper and hood fixed thats if the money fariy is generous enough LOL

Just keep it clean under that bra, protect what you can for now, then splurge and paint the hood, and replace the bumper.

I agree with Jim. If the parts that are going to be coverd are already bad, and you like or don't mind the bra look, then go for it.

You sure the bumper wasn't affected structurally? Sometimes, small collisions that cause even zero damage to a bumper can have serious stuff going on inside, so the next time you hit something, you have no protection... You might want to fix the bumper...

I'm sorry to hear that! I would go for the bra for a temp. fix. I'm actually thinking about that myself too.

Put the bra on and if it looks alright, do it. Then get it fixed when the cash comes along.

Most bumpers are built to withstand 8mph impact without structural damage. The spiderwebbling in the plastic is unfortunate. Go with the bra to hide the damage, but...man, keep it clean...I can't stress that enough :?

I dont know how hard it would be on that purple... but on a black car a spider web is easly fixed with some modeling paint and a little paint brush... it wont look to good but from 3 feet someone else wont notice it... you'll know its there though..
so if you can find some matching paint maybe a quick little brushing will work... But thats just cuz I hate the bra look... my newest truck(which I havnt took delivery of) is coming with a bra(i already check under it.. its fine) just it was the dealers 24hour test drive demo truck, and they didnt want any chipps on it.. ill be taking it off.. maybe for long trips i might through it on...
