One thing I forgot on the other thread and this one... HUGE down payment. They see all that cash and get giddy.

Sorry to be cryptic...
I had a very large down payment which I suspect helped me alot on price negotiations. I let them know first thing that I had a large down payment burning a hole im my pocket for a GXP. Either they could have it or I would drive to Massachusetts, where there was another car for a much better price.

If you think they are asking too much for the car, don't buy it. The worst thing is to plunk down a bunch of money and then get buyers' regret. Be happy with your transaction. I walked away from three GXPs (1 GP GXP) before I landed mine.

Down payment only helps get the loan bought. If your credit is good enough, and the car is priced right, you can finance 100% + taxes. The dealership gets all their money either way, so a big down payment doesn't have any affect on the price of the car.

It'* kinda like trying to get a better deal if you're paying cash for a car. The dealership makes money off of the financing (provided you finance with one of their lenders), so they don't really like cash deals.

Actually you can often get a better price on the car by financing thru the dealer as they get $$$ back for doing that 'sale' too. it just another tid bit they don't like to advertise.
