Well, IMO, I think $350 could be an OK deal. He could stick 1K in it, and have a $1350 SSEi, otherwise I think it'* worth 350 in parts, no?

When you go look at the car again, try to take off the belt that is around the supercharger, and rotate the 'charger by hand, back and forth, and see if there is any play or any other metallic noises. Then try to start the car again, or at least get a real good cranking from it...if you here a knock from that point, walk away and don't look back.

Trust a member who bought an SSEi with a knocking condition...nearly 9 months have gone by, and it still ain't runnin

Where about in Central PA is it located? If you should pass, I might be interested in it for parts.

Doesn't sound very good. It definitely is not a good thing to run a car with overly filled trans fluid and oil

Also the color of that trans fluid doesn't sound good. At that mileage and slightly brown fluid could basically tell you that it needs service and that maybe it has for a while, which would basically spell failure in my eyes. I wouldn't risk it. Theres alot at stake here, and the fact that things seem a little whacky and the mileage is so high, really doesn't add to the greatness of it all.

$500 isn't bad. But, its your risk.

Good Luck!

Thanks for all the replies .... base on most of the experience here ... I am going to pass on it.

The car is in Clearfield, PA. the guys phone number is 814-762-4644 ... he works four days on and three days off. He will be off the next few days and can be reached by the number above just about any time.

Tell him Pete sent you...

THanks again for the advice.

You know, if the CD player in that thing worked, you could get upwords of 200 for it on ebay if the rest of the car failed on you.

Yeh .... but if I got this thing I would want to get it going ... and most likely spend more then I should on a older car.

Ive learned the hard way again and again that you get what you pay for. When I purchased my 94 it took me about two months of looking and thinking about the purchase, then my 94 came along and I looked at it and drove it before I even talked about money. Fell in love and bought it. Now im replacing parts I didnt htink were needed, but I own it now so its mine, and well worth it.

Good luck. Im sure if you keep an eye out in the "For Sale" Section, something will come your way or you can even try Craigslist. www.craigslist.com

New to you engines anywhere from 60k+could be had in the 400-800 range depending on your location, these may or may not have a supercharger on it.

Superchargers can be found on a deal many times, around 200, maybe needing a coupler change.

Right now my father would kill me if I bought another car he had to go pick up (i'm up to 4 that I've have to butter him up to go get in the last 4 years)
