Default Glove box door vent

Has anybody had a problem with the outside vent on the glove box door breaking a pin so it wont stay in? I thought maybe it was just a fluke on my 99 SLE until I saw a wrecked SSEi in the salvage yard with some silicone caulk gunked all over the same pin.
Anyone have a good fix that will still render the vent operable?

My vent broke also and I have a 93. Every time I open the compartment, my vent falls to the floor.
