Driving back from lunch with the wife and this idiot comes flying off the on ramp to make it across to the left hand exit ramp and over steers and hits the rumble strip and kicked a $hit load of rocks and I got 15 pits into the windshield. And small dings in the bumper. I called the Glass Company ASAP and I will have a chip free windshield tomorrow between 8-12.

That'* cool. did you at least get the guys plate # so you can report it to your insurance?

This sate is weird. They call it road hazard and the insurance company considers it a no fault claim. Now if the rocks came from a unprotected load in a truck..that'* different. Not only can you file against the offender, the offender can get his/her azz in a ringer with the state po-po and have a hefty fine leveled against them.

lucky, I had to pay to replace the windshield in ours. Those window with the layer in it to keep the HUD straight are spendy.

Be careful filing "no-charageable" claims. My parked F-350 was hit in a Army parking lot by a young lady who ran a stop sign in the snow. Caused 1800 in damages to my truck, totaled her uninsured by here pay here minivan. Paid my 1k deductible, insurance company paid 800. My insurance double at next billing cycle, which was substantial because we have 4 vehicles. I had no prior claims ever with this insurance company which I had been with for 7 years.

When I called my agent, he stated although it was a non chargeable claim, that only meant no points against me. It didn't mean they were not going to raise my rates because they had to pay out.

Switched to GEICO, screw the double of rates, but if I would have known they would do that, I might not of filed a claim for $800 net.

With ya on this one Guns. My mishap going up my driveway cost Progressive $2800. I have been with them since '95. First accident claim with them ever. No tickets or points against me. I assumed I was "safe driver" protected against a rate hike. Insurance for 3 vehicles was $1088/ 6 months. Just got my renewal for April 8th. $1568. Called the agent, she checked around. Nationwide with identical coverage and knowing about the accident, $1100. Bye Progressive. Guess Nationwide really is on my side..... ha!

I've been real happy with GEICO, very easy to add, modify or delete coverage and/ or a vehicle. Never have to speak to anyone, just get on the computer and in a few minutes whatever you want/ need is done.

Actually put that Dad from the inner city on GEICO from my notebook computer with a cellular connection. He bought a replacement vehicle and was able to add that vehicle to his policy at the dealer and GEICO seamlessly faxed his new policy to the dealer. All without talking to a person.

For guys like us with very few claims- seems price and ease of service is the key.

BTW- I wonder who runs these companies. How companies can let guys like us leave (40-50 year old responsible adults) baffles me. They can't easily ever get us back. I suspect they have some dirtball senior guy who thinks short term, something like its more profitable to raise rates knowing 30% of the people won't care and that is more profitable SHORT TERM than keeping the steady old guys as lifelong customers.

I hear ya, and can't figure the mindset. 15 years as a customer, always multiple cars on one policy,and separate Boat and Motorcycles policies. Never a claim. No infraction on the 3 years they can look at/count. The other 2 policies aren't up for renewal yet. But they won't be regardless of if they are affected or not. Things like this cause them to lose a customer across the board and not likely to return.

I'm with you guys on Geico. Back in 2003 when I had my car accident, I had progressive, and even though in the accident they found the other party at fault AND the other party had insurance that paid for the accident, my rates with progressive still went way up when I went to renew.

To heck with that, I tried a couple other insurances, but I've been with Geico for a while now, and getting the best rates I have ever gotten, even with my wife on who has only been driving for a couple years.
