Default Frame cracking

The crach is On the rear passenger side, just ahead of the mount that holds the stabilizer shaft in place. I can hand from the stabilizer shaft were that mount is, however the frame does flex down ward a small ammount. the crack extends just out of the braket and about 1 inch down the frame toward the rear of the car. This crack is right through the frame. Im wondering if i can weld this up? It is very rusty under there, and this does not surprise me. I just don't want to hit a rut one day and have that mound break out.

I haven't heard of a cracked frame since my 78 Impala. I took that in, and a guy welded it back together for $350. It broke right near the rear wheel, so they had to weld plates under the wheel as well.

well, like i said the crack isnt overly large, only about an inch long, but it looks as if around that entire mount its kinda soft I'll do something about it...

Well my cutlass rear frame started to rust ( where the rear trailing arm ( for lack of a better term) tied to just under the rear seat). That is when I traded it in. A friend of mine just a couple weeks later had a regal and had to get it towed to the gm dealer ( where he worked) and sure enough his was weak there too and when the company tied it down for towing in the flatbed he tied it to the rear and it pulled right out of the frame. Same spot at my cutlass. Mind you had his gone I would have taken parts off his car and put them on mine and drove it a bit longer before buying a new car.

Not what you wanted to hear but just personal experience.
