Opening Night
The 7th annual drags started today in Houston BC, The wife and I are both entered in with our pride and joy. It was Nostalga night and open drags, no time slips just head to head racing. Out of 6 runs ( 3 each) we both won 1 race, my wife nailed a 81 Camereo z28 (new tires the guy complained after), and I took a 89 Cadillac. The ones we gave the right away too were pro mod big blocks, no ricers here this year and so far I'm the only V6.
Tomorrow is the time trials and first heat, I'm in sportsmen class and the car is pulling consistant and straight.
I'll post an update and hopefully time slips tomorrow night.
I'm car #4
Nichole is car #5

Indeed...its the best place to rack up the kills. Sometimes the facial expressions of people that witness these family sedans waste other cars is priceless...

Today was King of the Hill, I won the first 2 rounds with a dial in of 10.3. My reaction time was .713 first round then .544. I lost in the 3rd round due to wheel spin. My wife Nichole lost the opening round but came back 2 wins and now sits 3rd in the powder puff. Her reaction time is off but she had the quickest run today with 10.2, powder puff elmination is tomorrow.
After I was knocked out of king of the hill I went for the gamblers pot, I won the first race with a RT .514 but lost again in the 2nd round due to wheel spin. The temp had dropped off guess I was building more power, I pre load to only 2000rpm and still breaking free with only 18lbs pressure on street tires.
Going to drop the tire pressure to 16 lbs tommorow and remove the driver side headlight for the bracket class races.
So lets see....
killed 1 5.0 litre mustang
killed 1 68 chev. street truck.
eatin by a 66 chevy 2 with a big block
killed 1 71 chevelle 350
eatin by a 76 trans am 6.6 litre
wife
eatin by camero iroc z28
killed 1 71 chevelle.....yeah way to get em back baby!
killed 1 78 Nova big block (red light)
Over all not a bad day of racing, had lots of fun and met lots of people. Most cant belive how fast this car is and many claim its the nicest car there. I have picture of Nichole behind a 427 Cobra, it looks like the Bonneville is ready to pounce on the little mouse lol.
I'll post the Final results tomorrow night, I might stick after and take on a grudge match with an Alero I spotted across the field.

This is a 1/8 mile race at the local airport, could be 1/4 mile but no return lane so you need a parking lot at both ends.
'sweet cherry' is bone stock, except for gutted air box, maf screen removed, waste gate bypass, drilled tstsat, and other tricks learned here at bonneville club
This is a base line year to get the numbers and experince driving. Drag racing is very technical and lots of fun. This winter will be full of projects........400hp by spring?

Very cool and over cast this morning, the car was running great. We had 2 runs to find our dial in and I posted 10.14 and 10.11. My first oppenent was a chevelle big block with a dial in of 8.9. I smoked the tires as best I could and kept the tire preasure high at 30 lbs, I didnt pre load to 2000rpm today buy held off at 1000, at the third yellow I realesed the brake and eased into the throttle trying not to break free, I shot right off with a .620 rt and 10.08 et.
Right after the sportsman class was the powder puff and nichole did fantastic, she inproved her RT to .730 and came back with a 10.32 and 10.29 in the dial in.
After this on the way back to the pits it began to rain and within 90 minutes the race was called off untill next year We sure had fun and learned a lot more about our car. Theres a race in two weeks not far from here, I think we're going on a road trip
Thanks to everyone here at the Bonneville Club for your insight and inspiration
