Default Ford Windstar???

Some guy in a Ford Windstar felt like racing me down the highway today. I just looked over at him as though he were crazy, but I still went for it. Of course I won. But seriously... a Windstar? Not exactly racing material in my opinion. Anyone else ever have this type of experience such an odd type of "opponent"? Last thing I expected to challenge me was a minivan.

what in tarnation was he thinking? Some minivans can be quick though. My mom used to have a 95 dodge grand caravan that I believe had either a 3,1 or 3.4, nonetheless that thing had some serious grapefruits. You didn't even have to step on the gas barely to burn the tires right off. I have a vid of a older style dodge van running low 12'* at the track, and it beat a z28 camaro. Freaked me right out. Expect the unexpected. Nice job icing that van though.

Yeah, I looked up the specs on it.... quite surprised. But still... when I looked over, I expected a Civic or something along those lines.... not a middle-aged guy in a minivan! If nothing else, it made me laugh.

That reminds me:

My friend was driving me in his Lumina. A Windstar with a bunch of kids pulls up next to us at the light and they are revving the engine. I was cracking up. The van actually beat us cause the car I was in started late. It was funny to watch though.

You might watch out for Astros, some have the SB Chev conversion and they can give you a run at the start, most of us could take 'em at the top end.
My wifes Montana can get with the program too

My dad had a '96 Grand Caravan before he bought the GTP and he used to race people in that every chance he got. My dad also raced a Venture in the GTP when it was nearly stock (CAI, 3.4 Pulley) and obviously smoked it. And I raced an Astro on the freeway from 75-110 a few days ago (and obviously I beat that). Suprisingly minivans want to race all the time, and some of them are actually fairly quick.

Here is a site I think you will enjoy:

depends, when my family had a van we used to go out and race just to be idiots, we knew we were going to get our butts kicked but we just did it to be stupid teenagers, it was something we got a kick out of seeing some guy think we were serious and getting all pumped and then we would pull away slowly as he screamed out of there. We did it for fun
