Default Fixed my bumper

As you already know, my car was hit. Had a lot of free time today so decided to get started.

Here'* what I started with.

Started by removing the front bumper. Removed the screws from the splash guards.

A few bolts underneath

These were a pain. Had to go under the car. had car on ramps, removing the wheels would have made it a bit easier.
Name: PC250312.jpg

And 2 clips under where the license plate would be.

And it pops right off.

I sanded the surface good

Size: 135.8 KB

And glassed up the back.

Then I filled in the outside with kittyfur.

Did some rough sanding

Size: 130.5 KB

Added some bondo

Size: 94.2 KB

Then sanded that real good.

Size: 107.6 KB

A bit more filling
Name: PC250325.jpg
Views: 74
Size: 111.4 KB

Name: PC250326.jpg
Views: 78
Size: 79.7 KB

And a light shot of can primer.

Tomorrow I will pick up a can of paint. I'll sand a bit more and give it a shot of paint to get threw the winter. I plan to remove the bumper in spring and sand it smooth and paint it with the right primer and paint.

Good work and you got lot'* done today. I suppose I can quit shaving the neighborhood cats now...doesn't look like you need any more kitty fur.

Looks great Dan. I've only heard of fixing bumpers with urethane since they flex with wind etc. Similar to how painting them is different because of the flex agent that is added to the paint.

Glad to see that you won't be going through the winter with an ugly spot on the bumper.

I'm just using standard paint for the winter. I figuer if the job doesn't hold up threw the winter, I can make what ever changes I need in spring. If it does hold up threw winter, then it can hold up to anything.

There'* a small area to the left of the fog light hole that'* not perfect. But that'* not what I was looking for at this time. I want to see how this works threw the winter. Wasn't going to make it perfect because I can't paint it right until spring. If the work holds up good, then it will be cleaned up a bit in spring and be painted with good paint.

All that'* left is wet sand with 2000 grit, then put it back on the car.
