Thanks for pointing that out, John. The life of the alternator depends largely on the load.

For what it'* worth, I'm on my original alternator. My 99 SE has 163,000 miles. It is stock, but I do tow trailers frequently. The load from trailer lights hasn't damaged my alternator...yet.
