idle/upper rad hose hot/closed throttle/park or neutral/closed loop/Acc. off/brake not applied

MAF reading in Gm/Sec typical value-5(varies)

TPS reading in Volts typical value- .2-.74

an analog voltmeter works really great for checking all of those sensors. Just tap into the wires with a couple of 't' pins and away you go.

that is the conditions that must be present for the reading according to the trusty 93 service manual

My MAF is reading about 1000 grams a second at idle, is that normal?

depends a lot on the weather, but yeah that seems to be in the right area. Only thing is if its off by 3-400 you'll never know but it'll cause some issues.
