Mike, One thing I noticed is there appears to be only two studs into the subframe on that era mount. (is that right?) The strut version has three and I think the lower piece is larger to accomodate the extra stud. Not sure if that matters.

Had a thought to get me by until I can get a heavy duty mount. Right now it'* just flopping around. My thought is the header is hitting the heat shield that'* over the power steering rack and that'* causing the 15* of KR I'm seeing. Looking at your mount it looks like it'* held rigid under load. So I'm going to take a hardened bolt, weld another bolt on to the head of that at a right angle. Then replace the strut with that. I'll use 2 nuts on the bottom to hold the bolt rigid. That should hold the mount rigid. I'll just not beat on it, but at least I can drive.

Why not just line it up, drill a hole though, and add a bolt through the mount?

Because the top portion is vertical. Bill cut the top off and welded it horizontal. I just want to get a bandade on it until I get another mount and build it right. My free time is limited right now.

I think what Mike is saying is do what is in his picture. Take the mount out fo the car. Line the rubber and metal up properly then drill through the metal and rubber. Insert bolt and done.

Or you could do something similar to what I did...but I'd wait on a good mount for that.

BTW only one nut on the bottom. Otherwise it'* very close to the subframe.

Yeah I'm not suggesting you weld anything. You don't need to. Just put a bolt through the actual mount. perpendicular to the rubber and through it.

If you don't have time to unbolt the mount and remove it.. and since you still have that strut, why not just bottom it out with washers or something so it will limit travel?

Ok got a grade 8 bolt. I assume it'* just jack up the engine a bit, remove the splash shield, undo the mount, jack up a bit more and remove. Plan to do this Sunday.
