Default ECC Econo mode?

If you have electronic climate control you probally know what im taking about
Its the ECONO button that you can press when the heat is on, apparently it helps the gas mileage by allowing the AC compressor pulley to free wheel, but, doesn't it free wheel with the heat is on say if its set at 80-90 F ?
Just curious as to how much this helps, if it does anything at all!
thanks

It might make a 1 or 2 mpg difference on a long freeway trip.

It also helps by not cycling the compressor [ i.e. ware and tare on the a/c system ] and putting a load on the engine. May save you major money in parts and labor in the long run. :?

Also remember that the compressor will not run in cold temperatures.
