O.k., I would like to get a better uderstanding of the */C 3800. Preferably the 94-95 w/ 225hp, 275ftlb. What type of repairs would I expect between say 120,000 miles and 200,000 miles. Is it common for them to leak oil, do the HD trannys hold up better than light duties, how long do */C'* last, ect..

The reason I ask is the dealor that I test drove the LSS has called me twice telling me that the mechanic I had it checked at was just trying to get my buisness. He says the air ride leaking was BS and only common to Ford. He said there is nothing that can leak out of the shocks. Are these people dirty salesmen or was the mechanic the dirty one. Who to beleive? :? I still want to know all you're repairs and matainence items for those who own a L67 car.

Yes, there can be an air leak only in the rear air shocls( If aavailable) and the */c oil should be changed immediatly if it hasnt be. Check the */c belt and the altanator belt. Check the motor and trans and everything else after that.

Just a normal car really, Check everything you would on any car.

The air ride sucks on all these cars and will need to be replaced if it hasn't in the long run regardless.

yup, the air shocks can leak. They have fluid in them still. I shoudl know, both of mine were totally blown and spewed fluid all over. They leaked horrible..

convert over to regular shocks

The driver'* side front shock is leaking on mine, causing the compressor to run too much. I disconnected it because it drained my battery.

Here are some clarifications:

There are no air struts on the front of Bonnevilles with that option, only the rear struts can have air.

When the mechanic says the air system is leaking, that means that there is an air leak. If this is the case, the air compressor will run regularly as it tries to keep the rear end of the car level.

I have never had any air leak problems with my rear air struts or lines. (152,000 miles)

So is it that much of a problem? I even sat in the back seat and it seemed sturdier and higher than my car. Can you hear this compressor run? I really didn't notice any noises while driving the car other than the */C coupler at idle.

You can hear the compressor run for sure. You may be being fed BS by someone who wants business as a mechanic. The back struts may be just fine right now.

You can hear it run when the car is off, but not when the engine is on.
