Drifting in a FWD car? Not really possible...sliding in a FWD car, which is really what most people are talking about in here...that is possible, but I wouldn't call it drifting really.

In order to drift i'm pretty sure you need a RWD or AWD car in order to control the back end by how much gas and brakes you use...you have no control over the back end with the gas on a FWD car only an e-brake that really isn't doing much when it comes to control.

you have some control over the rear via the throttle... more throttle in FWD removes weight from the front half and transfers it rearward, which is why at a higher speed with a FWD car you're much more likely to experience understeer rather than oversteer...

if you really want the back to get loose, get up to speed, turn hard and jab the brakes. all of the weight rushes in the direction the vehicle was moving(inertia) and is usually enough to get into uncontrollable situations....

you know, on second thought, don't do that.

I agree with what'* been said. Sliding in an empty parking lot after a half-inch of snow can be fun for a couple of minutes. I've done that a few times, and (assumedly) still have four working differentials.
