Default Dome light question

What I want to do is disconnect the interior lights and put them on a seperate switch, but still have the dome lights on the ceiling still work on the domelight switch and when you open the doors. Right now I have the dome bulbs out so that I can leave the blue bulbs under the dash and in the doors on while im driving. It looks pretty spiffy but can i just rewire the switch and run seperate wires from the domelights? Im sure this sounds confusing... Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the switch?

The underdash lights should each have one white and one orange wire. You will need to disconnect (cut) the white wires and run them to a switch. The switch needs to supply ground when turned on.

ground----------switch===========both underdash lights (white wire)

Actually I want to hook up only the domelights to the roll-switch, and hook up all the other lights to a seperate switch. I want the courtesy lights (other than the overhead ones) to be seperate from the lighting system. I'm thinking that I can just unhook the could just detach the courtesy lights and run a seperat wire from the original switch to the overhead lights, and then simply wire the remaining lights to a seperate switch.

OK. Lets break this down.

We'll say that you have 3 sets of lights: overhead, doors and underdash. They operate two (or more) ways: doors opened or dimmer switch.

Explain what lights you want to come on and when.

Alrighty, heres what I am looking for.

1. OVERHEAD come on when you open a door or turn on with dimmer switch
2. UNDER DASH and DOOR lights come on only when you turn on seperate switch

I am taking the headliner down soon so I wil have access to everything.
