The thread from Hans reminded me of something I wanted to ask before. Do any owners of 00+ Bonnies have much brake dusting? My others cars have always dusted terribly, but this Bonneville I have has had almost no dusting at all. The only thing I get is a very slight amount of light brown residue in the corners of a couple spokes after a couple weeks, but not even on every spoke. My car hasn't been washed in weeks other than a rinsing about a month ago and there is still virtually no dust on the rims, just salt and crap.

I'm basically just curious if this is normal with the factory brakes, or if maybe my car has had ceramic pads put on it.

My 04 does not dust up too much. There is always some black dust when I clean the wheels but not a lot. I clean them with every wash or Zaino Z6 wipe down.

From your posts you are probably anal about keeping your wheels waxed and clean. It seems that brake dust does not like to adhere to a waxed wheel.

haha, actually I'm not that anal about the wheels. I waxed them back in October when I did a full detail, but since then I only washed them with the rest of the car every week or two. And the car has only had a coin op rinse a month ago in the last two months. And I haven't gotten any of the black dust I get with the other cars, just very light brown residue.

I'm not sure if the 2000+ came with ceramics or not, a lot of cars have them stock but I'm not sure about the 2000+ bonnies.

Ceramics are designed to last longer and do not emit as much brake dust.

my 02 dusts pretty good in the front

2000 here...stock not ceramic...brake dust...yes...but it'* my daily driver which means driving in all weather, all the time, 350 miles per week. Perhaps quantity of driving makes a difference.

I would think quality of driving would too...but anyone who knows me can attest to the fact I drive like "an old lady".... I coast more than most (hey that rhymes!) and try to use my brakes gently and only as necessary.

Mine stay pretty clean. It only has stock pads and rotors as well.

I had an old Isuzu pickup once and it would constantly dust up the wheels. The Bonneville'* stay pretty clean.

On the oem 5 spoke chrome wheels, brake dust accumulation is not that apparent for some reason.

Yeah, I drive about 300 miles a week myself. Maybe the five spoke have enough open space to them that the dust doesn't accumlate the same.

mine dust moderately, but not a whole lot with premium semi-metallics.... much less than many other cars on the road. I find that wheel coating makes a big difference too, depending on the coating and texture on the rim, more dust will stick to some surfaces than others making dusting more apparent, but not necessarily acutally more
