Old?!?!?! Oh yeah, I am old!!
Personally, if it'* in as good of shape as you say it is, keep it. You'll potentially be driving it til you're my age. Plus, I don't know about you, but when I was 16, I couldn't even pretend I was gonna have a nice car. Had to beg, borrow, and steal to save up for my first car, a $500 66 Beetle (Which I loved BTW)

Flowmasters are sweet, i've got one on the way, with some nice stainless tips coming. You can do a crossflow muffler on them too.

Keep it, without a second thought! As previously mentioned, you can upgrade a Bonneville to the extreme if you want to... or keep it stock and be just cool.
Plus your 3.8L V-6 will blow away any of your little friends in their dressed-up-but-mechanically-stock Honda Civics... on the track, of course.

I'd say keep it. Statisically speaking being a new driver your going to do some damage to it and it will most likely save your life in the case of a major accident. Insurance should be reasonable on your parents as well.
