Default Do I have Keyless Entry?

I purchased a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE a few weeks ago as a second car, to give the Bonneville a little rest. The car did not come with any keyless entry remotes, and I simply assumed that the car was not equipped with keyless entry. However, two times now I have exited the car and locked the doors, only to have the lights flash and horn toot a few moments after I closed the door…such as a confirmation you receive when you lock with a keyless entry remote. I’m starting to wonder if I’m simply missing the remotes, as commonly happens with used cars. My question is: How do I know if this Grand Am is equipped with a Keyless Entry System, and I’m just missing the remotes?

Thanks! Just looked and I do NOT have the AU0 code on the label.

What would make it flash the lights and toot the horn? LOL!

Thanks again.

OEM keyless on GM cars and trucks don't flash and honk.

Somebody aftermarketed something on that car.

GM vehicles after 96 with remote do flash once and if you press the button a second time they honk as well. They added this as a confirmation that the vehicle locked. Versus the prior models that would only turn on the interior lights. (Not visible during the day.)

I am thinking this GA is flash/honking as a confirmation of lock upon a possible second press or certain time length press of the button. My suggestion would be to double check the owners manual.

Not all GM vehicles after 96, and it dictates that you need keyless for that function for those that do, and he already stated he doesn't have the RPO.

My 98 flashes and honks when I push the lock button (once). it'* programmable, tho. You can set different types of feddback. Instructions are in the owner'* manual.
