I've used the split quick boot in the past on a couple of vehicles where they didn't want to spend the money for a new axle. They lasted at least a couple of years. They and the CV joints were still ok when the vehicles were sold.

my inner boot is torn about halfway around. has been since i bought the car in the fall of 04. doesn't make any noise, still seems to be good as new. over 30K since i bought it.

That actually happened on my 94 SSE once and i thought the tranny had went, i was so mad, but then my granddad took a look at it and said it was just the axle and it was fixed the next day, the bad thing was i had no warning at all, no clicking or nothing, it just happened, but luckilly for me, it was in the driveway
