Default Dex Flush

Well I thought the Bonneville had been flushed at some point before I was handed the keys, apparently not. I know that the coolant bottle is stained from it but I thought it had been taken car of.

I found that Dex Mud crap forming under my radiator cap

so just wondering, I could flush this junk myself couldn't I? Unplug the holes and run a hose through it? Or is it a little more complicated than that?

Why is Dex in there in the first place? You will want a really good flush.

Doesn't GM vehicles come with Dex?

and Alltel used this car as a Company car until we purchased it in '97 I believe, so anything could have been done then but i don't know.

Is it green or orange? Dex didn't come factory until the Series II sometime. Regardless, if you've got goo in there, it needs a flush. You can try a hose flush first, if that doesn't get it all, you'll need a chemical flush.

I thought GM didn't start putting DEX in the cars until like the mid 90'*? Someone may had added DEX to your car by mistake thinking thats what it needed for that model year (93). Either way flush it quickly, other members who know more on the subject will know if this is something a simple water flush will do or a drastic chemical flush.

I am going to recommend LIM gasket replacement also, just to be safe. DEX shouldn't even be in there in the first place.

Lets back up a Minute here...

Is it a Pinkish Red or Orange?

Pinkish Red would be Dex.... Orange could be prestone..

But in any event, the system needs a good flush...

And Bonneville came with Green until the 1996 Model year
