Default dash info center question

why does my gt have a "performance shift" light when a- my car'* not a manual, b- i dont have the performance shift option, and c- my car'* not a gtp? how can i tell? it was really sunny the one day a long time ago while i was on my break at work, and the sun was beaming my dash and the little slot said "perf shift." i was like "huh??????????"

Because it'* not profitable for GM to make a different DIC for differently optioned cars.

preformance shift has to do with how the automatic transmission shifts itself. Jon is right it is cheep to make a base and add some special stuff later. You'll see on many cars that had manuals on the dash on outline for the shirt up light,

Do ya want perf shift Fab.. you know I know how to make that happen.

Then the programming can be modified to have two modes of driving, normal and performance. If you change the tables decently then you'd notice the difference.

Most of the cars that have this..the tables are so close to one another that it'* tough to notice the difference.

There'* one wire to run to a switch and the other side is ground. Then you have perf/nomral selecting.
