It's been done. Damemorder did it, but he's off doing military stuff. You can try to PM him, might not hear from him for a while though. 1993 SLE is planning on it, I think.

cool.. ill have to talk to him about it

Don't forget the expensive windshield too. And the dashboard. Is that just the HUD unit itself? Does it come with wiring?

You'll hear people say you don't need the WS, but you DO. You won't be pleased with the image quality if you don't.

3 people here have done it. Two 92-95's, and one 87-91.

You need:
HUD unit w/adjusting mechanism.
Dash surround with HUD control cutout.
ENTIRE DASHBOARD from a HUD equipped car.
Upper Dash Trim from a HUD equipped car.
Factory service manuals.

I had this planned for my SLE. It's frustrating to have a HUD on one car and not the other, and I found myself speeding in the SLE out of ignorance. It's just not worth the time and effort at this point for me.

Yes I am planning it.......Bill is right on with his post...

I spent HOURS in my FSM's looking for the wires, Good thing for me, I had a 93 SSEi parts car that i pulled the entire Wire Harness out of..and when i say entire harness i mean the entire harness....from Front headlight to Rear taillight....It took me a long ass time to trace all thoes wires too....

there are only 8 wires that need to be connected to make the HUD Work (electronically) BUT you need all the other hard parts to get it right...the dash is the major hurdle. Most of the SSEI dashers are cracked in some fashion, making it really hard to find a nice one. Never the less

this project is not for the faint of hert, and you better be damn good at Wiring

i emailed the buyer, all they have is the unit, no wires, no controls so it sounds like a big head ache

It would be a headache, but never underestimate the coolness of doing a mod like this and being one of the few to have this in your car.

nagel79 07-20-2006 10:33 AM

well i'm still going to try and do it, i'm just going to look for a car that has it all intact, I'm going to be hitting up this pick'n pull in evansville and hopefully i can find one with everything together
