Default Code Alarm ca6553 alarm/remote starter

I have a 2002 chevy Tahoe, I would like to install the ca6553, alarm/remote starter. I would like input as to whether the gm passlock data interface is required. The 1700g has been suggested.

you got two ways you can go, you can measure the resistance in the lock and bypass it with a resistor, but this bypasses the security system. the easier and not bypassing anything way is to use a data interface. never heard of 1700g. i normally use a omega, or expresskit. you can go on their site look up the model number for your truck and then search on ebay or sonic electronics or amazon

I appreciate your advice. However, I have the Directed Electronics 1701g GM Databus Interface and Code Alarm ca6553 Security and Remote Start. I have identified the connections, but it seems that connecting the wires from the two componets, then to the vehicle wiring may be an issue?

not the right one for your vehicle, like i said if you look on experesskit (dei is expresskit too) that one is for 07-08 yukons. you have to get one that works with your truck, they have a thing on the site where you enter your truck and it tells you the right one.

please only one post per issue. as for the wiring them together those other functions are not supported by your older system all you will do is get one that bypasses security you will wire that to the starters identified output and thats it. power and ground. the more advanced function are supported through newer vehicles data bus(yours isnt)

Default Ca6553 alarm

I didn't see anything in the membership info regarding the number of "post" per day? It was my understanding that this a forum for the dissemination of information and support? If I in fact proved annoying, my apologies! Of course it was your option to respond or not. I do however, thank you for your input.

sorry i meant one thread per issue you posted another of the same question in a different location. that just confuses replies.

i was in a hurry before when i posted that, but wanted to answer your question. if you got the 1701g you are going to have to return it because it wont work on your truck. the newer vehicles have more things connected to the data buss and you can wire the alarm/remote start to the bypass unit and the alarm will control lock, unlock, horn, lights, etc through the data wire. the truck you have doesnt support that, and you have to wire all those functions to the trucks wiring(lights, locks, horn, etc.) the only thing the bypass will be able to do is disable the security for remote start. so you have to get a bypass unit that is compatible with your truck

I have installed the Code Alarm/remote starter with the 555l GM passlock interface! When the alarm is activated, if the remote start is activated, it triggers the alarm? The alarm diagnostic indicates the hood/trunk as the trigger. The truck wire was not used. The hood is connected to a toggle switch. The switch is negative - input. What is being over looked?

Thank you! The "trunk" wire must be grounded, if not used.
