Is it disconnected or a broken wire? Almost certainly one or the other.

I'm flushing my radiator right now because I keep getting higher than normal temps. I replaced my stat with a 180, only to find out what was in there before was a 160. It seems to be doing a little better now. I noticed that the small radiator in the front has alot of bent metal (what do you call them sheets??) on it. I suspect my K&N is sucking in some pretty hot air.

Those are Rad Fins, and i have whatever thermo was in there when i bought my car. I've never seen the temp above 200, even on 90 degree days in city traffic...

EDIT: A bunch of my fins in one area down low are bent up a lot too.

Okay...I regularly see 220 to 240 temps on 60 degree days, then the needle starts jumping around. I was actually beginning to think my gauge is off. Then I get a code that says it'* sucking hot air...

Wow, soundsl ike your cooling system is MIA... I'd definelty have it checked out if possible, do you know ifyour fans are actually turning on too?maybe you need a flush or something too. A bad Rad could do it too.

And, yes, my fans are turning on, the fluid is circulating, but I don't think like it should. Since I started the ten hour flush, it'* been staying right at 200 now. So, I imagine once I drain it, backflush it, and replace with Dex-Cool, it should run a little cooler yet. Anyone know an easy/quick way to backflush it that doesn't cost anything??

Wildman, check your IAT. If it'* disconnected, it'll throw that code. And you may want to have your cooling system flushed, or consider a water pump.

Yeah, I guess my next step, if this flush doesn't work, would be to have the radiator professionally flushed or have it rodded out. The water pump is new.

Oh, I just thought of something. I bet it threw that code because when I got home last night, I checked my tranny fluid and noticed that the air filter and the short piece of shaved PVC it hangs on had slipped off of the accordion tube, and I put it back on. Would that do it??
