How are they the same company..?
Most of the manuals cover a wide variety of cars so they are all going to be a bit Vague...
But the Chiltons is better than the Haynes..
I would prefer that every owner has a service manual, but not everyone can afford it..

Can anybody confirm:
ISBN-10: 0801989639
ISBN-13: 978-0801989636
Pep Boys has the best local price at $18.99 but I can get it through Amazon for $9.97. I just want to make sure the ISBNs and part numbers are the same. Can anybody clarify? I realize with each printing a different ISBN is issued but I just need it to cover '96 Bonneville.
Thanks

I'll make this last note...
If you have to get a generic Automotive manual, Pick up the chiltons...
If worse comes to worse you can go to the library and look through the Chiltons service manuals that most of them have.. The info in the Real versions are quite good.. If there is anything we need to know such as torque specs and or setting the timming that where we go to get the proper info..
So there is always more than 1 avenue

I agree with samueljackson. I bought one (I can't remember if it was the Chilton'* or Haynes), and was not that impressed with it, so bought the other. It was wrapped in clear plastic, so I could not read through it to compare to the one I had. Anyway, it is basically the same as the first, with very little difference. Pics are the same. It does say somehwere, on the back I think, that Chilton'* and Haynes are same company. If anyone wants to argue this, I'll check them when I get home tonight for exact details. :?

OK, I think I'm going to need more info, like a picture of the back that says they are the same, because my research tells me that these two manuals are published by two different companies, links below:
Chilton by Thomson Delmar Learning
Haynes by Haynes Publishing
Now, this is not definitive by any means, it is the best info I can find so far. Nowhere can I find anything indicating that these manuals are both written or published by the same company.
